Introduction
Welcome to the studio of Lynette Case! Lynette has been making pottery for twenty years. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2009 and has continued to make work and teach since then.
Her journey began in high school when she took her first serious pottery class. At that point, she knew she wanted to work with clay as her profession. She went on to receive her BFA from CU Boulder and then worked for two years as a studio assistant for CU Professor Kim Dickey. She gained experience in running a studio and installing shows, along with packing and shipping complex art pieces. Later, she built a small studio and made work for shows and restaurants. When she moved a few years afterward, she needed new studio space—so she joined the Boulder Potters Guild and had a place to work again! She has since served on the Guild’s Board of Directors and participated in teaching, sales events and shows. In 2019, she built her own gas kiln in rural Boulder County and enjoys firing her work in it!
Lynette’s work has been shaped by many of her personal experiences. She was an assistant manager at an organic farm for over a decade and worked as the lead chef in a small restaurant. She loves being involved in all aspects of food—growing, cooking, and serving. She enjoys working with her hands and doing process-based work. Lynette makes pottery and one-of-a-kind art pieces, including dinnerware and wall-mounted paintings on pottery and tiles. She also makes architectural ceramics like sinks, lights and accent tiles. She is always experimenting and working with new ideas, so please stay tuned to this newsletter for new projects as they happen. The journey continues!
